Why Brain Health Matters?

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) often begins 20 years or more before there is any noticeable memory loss or other symptoms.

Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRDs) can have a slow progression which presents the opportunity to address the divers of decline and improve outcomes.  

1 out of 3 older adults dies with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia, with 66% of those diagnosed being women. 

The costs associated with ADRDs are substantial. Between the cost of direct care (homecare, medical costs, nursing home/memory care/respite stay) and indirect costs such as potential lost wages/non compensation of caregivers who are often family members providing services and care to their loved ones, the total lifetime costs associated with ADRDs can reach over $400,000.
